The Eighth Street represents the focal point and the most productive operational lung for the Industrial Zone: a recent census identifies the presence of about 600 companies in the industrial area (cf. www.asicatania.it). The Complex of GELIM covers a total area of 30,757.00 sqm, of which 6,670.00 sqm are covered, 6,190.00 sqm are buildable areas, 2,955.00 sqm are green areas, and the remaining 14,942.00 sqm are designated for parking and/or roads. Currently, it houses, with direct exposure to a public road (8th street), the offices of PP.TT., the Break – Café (self-service refreshment point), a Newsagent - Stationery - Tobacco shop, with an adjacent real estate portion facing the street structurally and functionally suitable for shops for commercial use.

Within the industrial complex are currently housed the offices of Snam Rete Gas Italia, the analysis laboratories of the company Studio Chimico Ambientale, the offices and warehouses of HUB Ambiente Srl (a company that deals with storage of empty containers for special waste), M+W Italy, Tokio Electron Europe LTD TEL, and Poste Italiane.

Near the complex in question are located the real estate complexes hosting ST Microelectronics (microelectronics systems and components), ETIS 2000 (printing press headquarters of the newspaper "La Sicilia" and other newspapers), several logistics operators, multinationals related to ST Microelectronics, such as Eagle Test Sistem and others, the National Research Council, a medical device industry that produces a medical hollow fiber for artificial kidneys, unique in Italy. In the nearby streets are also located: the Coca Cola production plant, a branch of Unicredit and Credito Siciliano, hotels and service areas; leading auto dealerships, trucks, and industrial vehicles, a Porsche Center, Interporto Company Parking, and finally also the giant IKEA.

The real estate complex consists of six buildings, some for office use, others for production and commercial use, and finally some used as warehouses. The complex, for the most part, was renovated around the year 2005, continuous improvements are made to comply with current regulations and the needs of the various tenants.

The buildings are constructed with reinforced concrete structure and infill masonry in concrete; the roof is semi-cylindrical, the facades are made with traditional plaster and resin plastic finishes. They are equipped with technological systems, both essential and supplementary, and are not subject to any constraints; the complex is in excellent maintenance condition and most of the buildings are leased out.
